Great Salt Lake Artemia

Profile

Great Salt Lake Brine Shrimp Cooperative is a Utah-based group that harvests and exports Artemia cysts from the Great Salt Lake, one of the world’s most important natural sources of brine shrimp. The cooperative supplies hatcheries globally with high-quality cysts used as feed in the early stages of fish and shrimp farming.

The organisation emphasises sustainable harvesting practices and has received certification for responsible fishery management. In addition to cyst production, the cooperative invests in technology and research to support efficient aquaculture practices, offering tools and services that improve hatchery performance and biosecurity.
